The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (RQF), often called the Level 3 CAVA Assessor qualification, is the current industry standard for anyone wanting to become a qualified assessor of accredited courses. It replaced the older A1 Assessor course, which itself had succeeded the D32 and D33 units. Today, this qualification is part of the broader TAQA (Training, Assessment, and Quality Assurance) framework.
This course prepares learners with the key skills needed to assess vocational knowledge and practical competence, whether in educational and training environments or within professional workplaces. Most training providers now require assessors to hold the Level 3 CAVA before they can formally assess learners in the Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) sectors. The qualification is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and delivered fully online, supported by experienced tutors throughout the programme.
Entry note: No previous experience in assessing is necessary, but learners must have access to at least two candidates in order to complete the practical assessment requirements.
